It also doesn't help that alot of the writing in the game seems to only be in service for the games airy fart of an attempt at comedy which alot of the time is "hyper capitalist corporation's lmao" and maybe occasionally a character will say something totally wacky.Īll of it is incredibly surface level, i expected a game that flaunts its development studio as the one that made New Vegas to actually have compelling writing that entertains the players intelligence instead of having what is essentially just a canvas for boring tropes and played out jokes that never land. Same goes for the factions resisting the Corporations they're all exactly what you would expect them to be and nothing else freedom loving carefree do-gooder's who are against the system man. The individual brands don't even act any different from one another, all employees are forced to recite their slogan and promote their products no matter the context only differing in their slogan.Īt first i guessed that they had some sort of implant forcing them to do these things but no the only reason they do it is because of they don't they will be fired. They seem to be every single bland parody of a faceless soulless corporation you've seen before. I expected the Corporations to have some sort of compelling twist to them to actually make you think about whether they are good or not for the colony but so far I haven't found one. I bought The Outer Worlds on the Microsoft store and I've been playing for several hours and so far there appears to be zero nuance to any of the factions, writing, or universe itself.
